Google Classroom

Clark Students,

I wanted to provide clarification and any needed help for accessing Google Classroom. To access your teachers recorded screencasts or classwork you need to be signed into your @calrkalc.net account.

If you have more than one Google Account, you can sign into multiple accounts at once. That way, you can switch between accounts without signing out and back in again. I suspect this may be the issue some of you are reporting. It’s ok to have multiple Google accounts just make sure the active account is @clarkalc.net when you want to access school resources.

To Switch between Google accounts:

  1. On your computer, sign in to Google.
  2. On the top right, select your profile image or initial.
  3. On the menu, select the account you'd like to use.

Remove your account from the sign-in page:

  1. On your computer, sign out on a browser, like Chrome.
  2. Below the list of accounts, select Remove an account.
  3. Next to an account, select Remove .
  4. Optional: If you've signed in on other browsers, like Firefox or Safari, repeat these steps for each.

To Sign out of an account:

When you sign out of one account, you also sign out of all your accounts on that browser:

  1. On your computer, go to a Google page, like www.google.com.
  2. On the top right, select your profile image or initial.
  3. On the menu, choose Sign out.

Sometimes settings might carry over and be a problem for the Google security (prevent you from getting Classroom resources):

If you're signed into multiple accounts at the same time, sometimes Google can't tell which account you're using. For example, if you're signed into two accounts and you open a new browser window, Google is not sure which account you want to use. In cases like these, Google might apply settings from your default account, creating a security issue.

If you can not access Google Classroom resources:

1.Sign out of all Google accounts

2.Sign back in with your @calrkalc.net account

Google Meet Troubleshooting

Customize the resolution of your camera. A lower resolution is useful for poor network connections or when limited data is available. Follow these settings to alter your video call settings:

  • During a Google Meet call, click Settings (the gear icon).
  • Choose if you want to change the send or receive resolution — send resolution is what your camera will send, while the receive resolution is what you see from others.
  • Select the resolution you wish to use from and select Standard Definition (360p)
  • Click Done.

2. Confirm the volume on the MacBook is set high enough by:

  • To change the volume on your Mac, click the Volume control in the menu bar, then drag the slider to adjust the volume (or use the Control Strip). If the Volume control isn't in the menu bar, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sound. Click Output, then select the “Show volume in menu bar” tickbox.

3. Check your Mac permissions.

  • System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Camera. Then select Chrome.
  • Repeat for microphone.
