Career and Internship Resources

There are a lot of resources available to assist students with career planning.  This page is designed to provide resources for career research as well as for the Clark Internship.  It will be updated on an on-going basis.

Economic Security Report

The Economic Security Report provides students, parents, and others with information on graduates of Florida’s public institutions of higher education, including the State University System (SUS), Florida College System (FCS) and District Technical Centers (DIST). The full report can be viewed here.

FloridaShines and MyCareerShines

One of the best resources for career planning is MyCareerShines, which is part of the FloridaShines program.  MyCareerShines is a comprehensive education and career planning system that will help students succeed in the increasingly competitive global economy. Students will learn about themselves, discover the many career options and opportunities available to them, and gain access to tools and resources to assist them in achieving their goals.  To access MyCareerShines, visit FloridaShines and click on “Find a Career.”

Career Research Resources

Occupational Outlook Handbook:  Published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Occupational Outlook Handbook provides detailed information on hundreds of occupations.  Profiles include descriptions of the occupations, salary, projected job growth, education and training requirements, and a lot more!

O*NET OnLine: O*NET enables students to find careers that match their skills, to explore occupations by career cluster, or to explore occupations of interest to them.  The site provides a wealth of information about hundreds of occupations including general descriptions, salary, job outlook, education and training requirements, skills required, etc.

STEM Jobs in Demand in Florida: This report, from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, shows the jobs most in demand, specifically for the Research Coast.  This is based upon the number of advertised jobs.  Information on other regions is also available at http://www.floridajobs.org/labor-market-information/products-and-services/stem.
