For Clark students, there is no parking fee; however, a Clark tag must be properly displayed from the vehicle’s review mirror while parked on campus. Who can attend Clark?
Clark is open to all students in grades 9-12 in Martin County who meet admission requirements. If the number of applications exceeds the planned capacity, students will be selected through a lottery.
What are the admissions requirements?
Students must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for admission:

Be a resident of Martin County.
- Be classified as a high school sophomore, junior, or senior.*
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 (entering seniors must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.)
- Earned one credit with a grade of C (70%) or higher in Algebra I.
- Complete the application and provide a 300 word (minimum) essay on "Why I want to attend Clark Advanced Learning Center.”

If not currently enrolled in a Martin County public school, we must receive official transcripts, report cards, and test scores for the application to be considered complete.
What programs of study are available at Clark?
Clark offers high-school courses to meet the graduation requirements for a college-ready high school diploma. In addition, students may be able to participate in the vast array of college courses available at the IRSC Chastain Campus.
Through Clark's dual enrollment program, students enrolled in courses offered by IRSC can earn both high school and college credits. Students will follow an individualized program of study that is specific to their interests and goals. The program of study will be developed by the student, a Clark guidance counselor, and the student's parent(s).

Faculty - The most important element needed for effective learning is a top-quality faculty. The teachers employed by Clark are fully certified to meet both high school and college-level standards. Clark faculty members are committed to helping students learn through involvement in real-world projects, interdisciplinary teaching strategies, and active engagement in the learning process. Clark faculty emphasizes personalized education and receive special training to work with students in ways that best suit their individual learning styles.

Technology - Technology at Clark is incorporated into every aspect of teaching and learning. We believe that technology, when used effectively, can greatly enrich the learning experience. To succeed in the 21st Century, today’s young people must bring sophisticated technology skills to their academic and employment careers – graduates of Clark will have this advantage.

Curriculum - Clark’s curriculum includes strategies for using real-world projects and problems to fully engage students in learning. In addition, students work with local business partners through internships and shadowing experiences to gain valuable exposure to the world of work.
Is transportation available?
Bus transportation is provided through an arrangement with the Martin County School District.
How many students are enrolled at Clark?
Clark can enroll 275-300 students in grades 9-12.
Is there a cost to attend Clark?
As a public charter high school, there is no cost for high school/college tuition or textbooks.
How do I apply?
Student applications must be submitted online.
If the number of eligible applicants exceeds capacity, all applicants will have an equal chance of being admitted through a random lottery.
Who decides a student's program of study?
Clark students follow an individualized educational program of study developed by the student, the Clark guidance counselor, and the student's parent(s).
Can Clark students enroll in night classes at any IRSC campus?
While most classes needed to complete Clark programs will be scheduled during the day at Clark and/or Chastain Campuses, programs of study to meet individual student needs may include supplementing day classes with limited evening classes.
How is technology used to aid learning at Clark?
Clark's wireless technology throughout the school allows for creative learning anytime - anywhere.
Teachers can readily respond to student questions, involve business and industry experts in classroom activities, and enrich the curriculum with all the resources of the worldwide web.
How do students get a laptop computer?
To further Clark’s educational goals, a laptop computer is available to each student enrolled at Clark. A computer Acceptable Use Policy must be signed by both parent(s) and student.
Are Clark students eligible for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship?
Yes! The Clark counselor and teachers work closely with students to maximize scholarship opportunities and pursue Florida’s Bright Futures Scholarship program.
Are students able to complete the foreign language elective?
Clark students are able to complete the foreign language elective through dual enrollment and high-school foreign language courses.
What about student sports and other activities?
Clark offers many clubs and organizations for students such as several honor Societies, Student Government Association, Interact and other service clubs, and other clubs that meet student interests. Clark students are eligible to participate in after-school activities at their zoned high school, including sports.
Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
Clark serves special needs students by following all applicable laws, policies, and procedures related to student identification, placement, evaluation, and due process. As with other special needs students in the Martin County School District, district ESE staff are involved in student classification, IEP development, and compliance monitoring.
Are students allowed off campus?
Clark is located on an open college campus. Students’ individualized schedules may have:
- Off blocks during the school day
- Classes scheduled in the morning, afternoon, and/or evening
- Classes located at the Chastain and/or other campuses
Students leaving campus during the normal school day agree to abide by the appropriate rules and procedures associated with this privilege including returning to campus in a safe and timely manner when required by class schedule.
What is the dress code?
Clark school dress code is similar to other Martin County high school requirements related to student’s health, safety, and welfare. Students are expected to dress in clean and neat attire which is non-distractive, non-disruptive, appropriate to the educational setting, and does not offend or distracts others. School dress code applies to all classes and school sponsored activities, field trips, and events. When choosing attire for the upcoming school year, please consult the current student handbook information.
